  • A little about us...

    Melanie Stiller MACP, RP, BSW

I am here to help today!

Remembering that life is a journey rather than a destination has become a grounding thought for me. It reminds me that change is always possible, and that growth can happen at any stage of life. When I look back on my own path, I see hills, valleys, sharp turns, and unexpected bumps — and you may recognize some of those in your own story. I’ve also noticed that it’s often in those challenging stretches where I’ve grown the most. These experiences, along with my education, have shaped who I am both as a person and as a counsellor.

Here is a brief overview of my background and experience:

    • Bachelor of Social Work, University of Western Ontario
    • Seven years of experience working as a social worker
    • Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), Yorkville University
    • Certificate in the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model, ATTCH Counselling Center, St. Catharines
    • Certificate in Solution Focused Therapy, Association for Psychological Therapies
    • Business management experience, running my own retail store while raising my family
    • Clinical experience supporting clients with historical and current trauma, attachment concerns, abuse, depression, and anxiety
    • Experience working with diverse clients, including those who wish to integrate cultural practices into therapy and those who benefit from accommodations for physical disabilities

I know that reading a few paragraphs isn’t enough to truly know whether someone feels like the right fit. If you’re wondering what it might be like to work together, I warmly invite you to call me. We can talk through what you’re looking for and see whether we’re a good match for your journey.

  • Revivify

The word revivify has meaning for me personally and professionally. To illustrate this word (and because I thought it would be fun), I made a crossword of revivify and its synonyms. On a personal level, support from friends, family, and other therapists have revivified me, making support on my journey something I value. On a professional level, the word reflects my hopes and desires for the work I do. My desire is to help refresh and renew the spirit of those that are hurting, or who feel dead inside. My goal is to strengthen clients to utilize skills and characteristics they already possess and to stimulate new growth and learning of new skills and knowledge which can help a person move forward in their journey. My aim is to help a person fortify their healthy coping mechanisms, their resiliency, and their relationships, enabling them to manage the storms of life better. Finally, I hope to spark hope, new dreams and perhaps even some laughter in those that I meet.

  • Therapy Descriptions

    Trauma Focused Therapy

Our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM)® is a trauma-specific model that layers in sensory processing, art, breath work, somatic therapies, embodied awareness, toning and movement, bilateral stimulation, resource installation, and amygdala reframing messages.

    Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems. In the most basic sense, SFBT is a hope friendly, positive emotion eliciting, future-oriented vehicle for formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining desired behavioral change.
